After struggling with HC2 for 18 months, with unstable beta's (that took so long to develop that you couldn't actually call it beta anymore), irregular crashes of the unit and the Z-wave network, virtual absence of any serious support by the manufacturer and more annoying issues that you shouldn't have to expect for something that is twice as expensive as the competition, I'm happy to conclude that my Domoticz install is working great for over 2 months now.

It has is quirks, but once you get used to the concept, it works great and is robust. The amount of effort required for programming is the same as for HC2, so that shouldn't be an issue.

The upside to this all is that newbies are still impressed by Fibaro's marketing strategy, so I could sell the unit for good money.

Better change you signature text!

HC2 3.591b, 7 Danfoss valves, 10 Fibaro dimmers,
1 Qees shell dimmer, 5 Fibaro relays, 2 RGBW controllers, 2 Fibaro shutter control, 3 Everspring smoke sensors, 7 Fibaro door sensors, 1 Vision siren, 2 Z-wave.me keyfobs, 30 scenes and counting.

Glad to hear, the amount of time and effort that the HC2 requires to fix issues and perma beta status mean that this system should not be on the market. Its more like Ardrino tinkering system than a finished home automation system.

Well, I have HC2 now for almost seven months. I had some minor drawbacks but mostly caused by my programming, poor understanding of z-wave system and mostly lack of better instructions with how to's. There was also one bigger problem after HC2 deleted some devices but restoring backup resolved that problem. Of course I avoided all betas and always install stable releases. Besides almost all devices are Fibaro made except Vision siren.

It is not all honey and milk with Fibaro HC2 but it is actually working to our expectations. I can write that because my wife is happy with it so I'am too.

Anyway wish you all the best with Domoticz and many happy days with it.

isn't that why it's called a beta?

If you want(ed) stability, why did you use the beta's?

Hey congrats on finding something that suits. Check back in six months and give us an update, I'd be keen to see if it is still meeting expectations. I must admit to having a Domoticz install on my Synology NAS that I've looked at a couple of times, but haven't had the energy to explore yet ..

Besides, I'm only just starting to enjoy my HC2's after a couple of years, it is currently doing everything I want of it, and partly that is because I'm only just past the tinkering stage and starting to actually understand it a bit better.

I've run 2 alternative systems at my brothers house and also my folks house, both doing some basic stuff, and I dislike them both .. a lot .. I'm just waiting for the next model HCL or HC2 for them and I'll change them over.

For all of it's flaws ( and there are still quite a few ! ), it is still, in my opinion/experience, the most comprehensive of the lot at this stage, in that it is easy to start with, and easy to grow into a large system, but that depends I suppose what you want from it, and what you do with it

It's a shame to see experience leave the forum,

It is nice to hear somone is enjoying Fibaro and for all the negativity i spew their way i do hope that they manage to keep on track (4.090 seems great so far) and release something for HCL that will make it work less like tamagochi and more like Zax, but thats for another day.

I think that their recent presence on forums is positive indicator and the direcion their software is taking seems generaly positive, tho it is still too closed off at the moment for more dynamic changes incase somethings goes belly up (oh hi Yahoo! weather how are you? i see not talking to Fibaro still). So there is plenty room to work with i do think fibaro has some potencial if they can find way to spend bit money on fixing important issue and less on marketing (altho their marketing teams can get funny at times - like when they posted the weather sense tweet amidst Y! not working and way before we gotten YR) things could get better for their current userbase which would than go on and provide free advertising to their friends faimly etc. Word of mouth very much underapritiated way of advertising (because it requires an actuall effort on part of PR to try and get things do cool stuff that can be usefull and not just for show)..

Right i think i lost point i was making like 2 words into that whole mologogue XD.

i am glad Fib is around and i do hope for more impressive features rather than more impressive campaigns.

not quite sure if Fibaro follows this chart propetly but yes Beta still means a testing phase even if it is avalible to everyone, compatibility there comes at high cost or no gurantees to reliability

Well when using beta's and complaining about unstable system maybe you must look by yourself.

Did some beta's myself also in beginning but because I'm not the program wizard I let it go.

Running beta's with work, on my own mediacenter and cyanogenmod on mobile I know what it's about. Think the impact for beta and something gets wrong in your own house is to big. (at least for me)

Running only stable versions for past year and no problems more for me

Personaly i think betas are fun. you have to have at least one more HC to run all your stuff incase Beta goes bad tho so its more of a play about platform for my amusement than actuall system used to do stuff.
