There is no documentation there, does that mean none exists?

Can I customise the look of the screen? I know if I hold down an icon I can delete it....what more can be done?

Answer to your question is in another topic where you asked same question. Widget part can be customized but virtual devices and plugins can not be added. After you delete widget there will be a + sign. When you tap + sign you will se what you can add to that place.
