Migration from HCL to HC2 possible?

Question

Hello out there

Please login or register to see this image.

/emoticons/default_icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" />

I have got a HCL with a lot of devices (about 60) and now I want to turn the System to HC2.

Is it possible to easy migrate all devices to the new System?

Without a complete re-inclusion?

I do not want to pull every socket and every power-/ blind-switch out of the walls to exclude und new include them.

The scenes are not that important, I could write them complete new on the new HC. Important for me is not to open all sockets and switches and also to do the tricky inclusion of the window-sensors.

Hope there is a way for it...

Thanks to everybody who could help or give me a hit!

nope, you can't, as far as i know

you can use the hcl as a slave and use the hc2 as master

I am having the same problem.

In the configuration menu of my hcl I found the sub menu "z-wave network" and there the button "controller transfer" with the description "Starts process of adding a controller and is transferring its role as a main controller."

As I understand the wording this should do exactly what is desired by MU-Germany. Can anybody please confirm or explain the meaning.

I am not the youngest guy and if I think about the places where I digged/located my stuff (43 relay switches, door sensors, video cams, ....) - my god I need a doctor for my back pain.

you can add hc2 as a slave (not talking about remote gateway function) to hcl and later do shift and remove hcl. You gonna need create all scene from new - device will get different id , add again icons etc

  • Thanx to everybody who answered so far!

So if I understand right it is possible (without having my scenes - which doesn't matter).

That would be fine for me (and for my back too, Spiky)!

A.Socha, am I right that I just need to add the new HC2 as a slave and then do the "shifting" as Spiky explained?

The shifting then turns the new HC2 into master and the old HCL into slave?

    Hi guys,

I am trying to deal with the same issue: I have installed a HCL and I bought a HC2 which should replace the HCL.
Trying to include this HC2 by pushing the button Controller transfer (and the include button on the HC2) didn't have any result. (This button seems to be the logical choice for this process.)
Then I logged in on the online fibaro site in my remote control, and added the HC2. Now both systems are connected through a cable to my router and thus to the remote control center. I hoped this might help to establish a Controller transfer, but still nothing happened after pushing the buttons.
I tried to incude it as a new device for the HCL, but that didn't have any effect either.

Socha suggested to include the HC2 as a slave. Which button do I need to push for that? The button Add “secondary” controller? Or which button else?

Will this prevent losing all included devices?

And after that, how can the shift from slave to main controller be performed?

I don't expect an official manual for this process will be available soon, so I hope you can help me with some specific answers.

    Thanks for any useful tip!

same issue here. I would love to get an HC2 ( and at least 5 colleagues at work too ! ) but without a proper migration method this is most likely not an option as it currently stands. Any guided workarround would be great.

any new findings here folks ?

Yes, well, short answer: it is NOT possible (yet).

I've made several attempts myself, then today I had a fibaro IT-specialist at my home. He hoped he had some tricks, but that didn't work. Made slaves, but in no way the data and settings could be transferred. Finally he called the fibaro support center in England, and they had a very clear answer: it is NOT POSSIBLE yet. They are working on it, maybe this will be possible in a future  update.

(Suggestion to Fibaro: then remove that button Controller Transfer as long as it has no function at all !).

We spent the rest of the day opening up all the modules, excluding and including them to the HC2. I'll need the rest of the week to rewrite scenes, make associations and restore icons.

    Someone who can confirm this?

A.Socha (Do you have the same news from fibaro support?)?

    Great Weekend to you all!

    Gentlemen, I did it!!!

It was hard work for two days. I tried several approaches for the different modules and sensors. Most problems I hat witch switches. I noted the wiring, digged the modul out of the wall and did a reset next to the HC2. I read the manual, but exclusion did not work. The scenes I made totally new on HC2. Now it works properly and the execution of scenes seams to be simultaneously - on HCL delay of a few seconds. I am happy and my back feels well. I earnd a glass of beer, cheers!

How is this exactly working? What procedure is necessary to add a SLAVE-HC2 to a MASTER-HCL and how can I make a shift an remove the HCL?

I suggest.. if Fibaro would force this they could sell a lot of HC2... so many people waiting for this HowTo Migration Guide and avoiding the manual migration..... is there a Fibaro Admin who could help us on this issue???
