HC2, Dimmer 2 - turn off and on

Question

Hi,

I have 3 FGD212 Dimmers (with Bypass 2) which, from time to time, are turning off the light for no clear reason (no scene to trigger this) and after a couple of minutes turn on back the lights.

All three of them are doing this, but not at the same time and not with same frequency.

All of them are working with calibrate settings and all were updated from 3.3 to 3.4 firmware.

On a couple of cases I noticed some messages related to voltage in log box (between HC2 logo and weather panel), but disappeared quickly.

All of them are in the main electrical circuit, so I think that if indeed was a voltage problem all three should turn off at exactly the same time - but this does not happen..

My HC2 have 4.090 firmware.

There is an API or something to see historical messages from that log box?

Can somebody give me a hint what to look for next? How can I make them stop turning off and on by themselves...

Thanks,

Andrei

Hi Andrei,

open setup for each dimmer that is turning Off/On lights with voltage surge error and do following:

1. Go to the device options by clicking the icon

Please login or register to see this attachment.

2. Select the „Advanced” tab (see picture attached)

parameter 2. Maximum brightness level (parameter is set automatically during the calibration process) The parameter can be and MUST be changed manually after the calibration if calibration didn't go well. Calibration is working ok in most cases but sometimes with some bulbs it doesn't work well (that is normal) so manual adjustment is necessary.

Locate parameter 2 and lower percentage for 2-3%. You can either drag slider or click on number on the right side of slider and enter new value then press save button on tool ribbon that is on right side of web interface page. After you press save button find again same parameter and enter again same nuber and press again save button and after that new value will be sent to dimmer. So, you MUST save same parameter TWICE!

After that you will have to wait to see if dimmer will still turn off/on lights due to voltage surge. If not then your'e good, if yes then you have again to lover MAX brightness for 2-3% until it stops having problems with voltage surge.

This is what I have done with my dimmers 2. After calibration I first try to raise MAX brightness in step of 2% until it starts having voltage surge or overcurrent problems, then again lower to the max brightness percentage when all those problems stopped. Different types of light bulbs give different values for MIN and MAX brightness and sometimes auto calibration doesn't do the job so users have to fine tuning themselves.
