Hi all

sadly my post is not to inform everyone how to create an alarm. I am inviting people to shout at me (not literally)

I bought the HC2 and 6 of the FGMS-001 motion eye sensors. As Fibaro did not have a siren, i purchased an everspring (flashing strobe and siren)

I had hoped to build a simple alarm - whereby the HC2 would alow me to arm and disarm the alarm. When armed, it would monitor the sensors - when breached it would sound an alarm - and when sounding, it would reset after a period.

Sounded straightforward enough.

I am struggling - i - perhaps - naively thought there might be  a 'cookbook of useful projects' for people to borrow the useful bits of code to allow them to make their own alarm system. or even better, some annotated code on a plate - ready to use.

I cannot seem to find anything like that - there seem to be a number of articles which start with block scenes and then show bits of LUA code - all of which is a bit of a mystery to me at this stage. I would love to get into it more, but i dont have the time.

Maybe i am being unreasonable - but it seems (to me) that the HC2 requires an awful lot of tailoring to do the most basic things.

Am i wrong ?

this is the point at which i hope a lot of people shout "yes you are wrong - look at all these useful snippets of code"

I can then say "yes, i was wrong - i have now created my alarm system"

My worry is that i will have to go and buy a burglar alarm system in the interim

I am sure the HC2 is brilliant - i did a lot of research and expected to have to do some coding - but not for absolutely everything

Feel free to reply

I think I can see a way forward now

May I ask why you wouldn't use HC2 for this ?
