GPS Location for Family Members

I don't have the Family panel that is responsible for GPS tracking of family members (users), any idea why ?

Did you set the frequency of reporting a location from a device linked to a user? After first report this panel should show up.

Search the forum. I cannot remember what are the steps I did to make that appear. I do know I followed some troubleshooting steps posted in this forum and after one of them, it appeared.

 

It may even involve deleting the app on iOS devices (all devices that use same account) and the respective device(s) in HC2, turn on GPS tracking, then re-install app and see it is added back to HC2. I seriously cannot recall the exact steps as it has been >1 year back. I do recall I have to try set of steps, not resolve, then next step of steps, with each set getting more and more 'removal' and 're-add/install'.

 

Anyway, I don't even bother using its GPS tracking feature anymore. It is a poor implementation to be of good use. Set too frequent GPS tracking (e.g. 5 minutes), it drains your battery like mad. Set too infrequent GPS tracking (e.g. 60 minutes), it is not useful enough to use in scenes.

Location tracking is working for my wife but not for me as the superuser - do I need to setup a seperate user to track me too ?

i ask fibaro support about GPS issue u may try these steps i take anonymous copy from the e mail, not sure if its okay but it might help others:

Regarding GPS:

- While installing the Fibaro app you must allow the app to use GPS.

- Please note the mobile devices are responsible for reporting the positioning. Double check if the geolocation works with other apps on those mobile devices.

- Please go to configuration > access control > click on the superuser email address > set option “How frequently GPS position from the user’s iPhone should be collected?” to 5-10 mins. Please try with mulitple times to test.

- After the first geolocation point is reported, “Family panel” will be created. You can find it in the left lower corner of the page while on the “Home” page. See the attachments.

- In order to ensure that the GPS positioning works correctly, the Fibaro app should at least be running in the background.
