Fibaro Double switch 2 is a repeater?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am installing Fibaro HCL plus sensors in a double floor apartment.

I bought two FGS-223 just to increase the short range of the HCL but I found that the signal is almost the same as before.

Questions are:

- is the FGS-223 a repeater?

- if yes, what do you need to do to enable it?

The switch is correctly installed and it can control a lamp via switch and also via software. It is positioned between the HCL and the Danfoss valves at the end of the apartment but the range is not increased.

Is it possible to check if it works as repeater from the interface?

Thanks

Yes, all mains powered Z-wave devices are repeaters. You don't need to enable the feature. You may also use dedicated repeaters, but that is not usually necessary.

Unless your two floor flat is huge, you should be able to reach devices, unless there are radio obstacles (like several walls or large metal objects, like refrigerators (?), or in my case the metal casing around the chimney of a wood burner).

I understand you correctly, you installed the HCL and then the Danfoss valve further away. And now you added a FGS-223 in-between? I guess one problem could be then that the Danfoss is not yet aware of the now much improved route to HCL..? Try rebuilding the Z-wave network, maybe this helps. That is what I would try anyway...

    Hi Fredrik,

what happened: no way to get the data to/from Danfoss valves in the house even with 223 installed in between.

I also installed another 223 in the same floor on another wall of a very large living room to cover both night area and day area of the flat.

With huge difficulty I was able to have the initialization of the Danfoss into the system, this after different tries. But then no communication.

But later in the evening they started working.

You talk about improved route and that could be the possibility. In that case the mesh works in a strange way to me, I mean does it needs time to understand components are alive? But the important thing is that now they talk each other in a better way then before.

Now....if also the heating panel in the HCL would work it would be really useful for the heating system....
