Hi,

I would like to know is it possible to do following:

HCL was installed, configurated and Z-Wave network was in function. Backup file was made and stored on portable Flash drive (USB). Then, HCL got broken.

Is it possible to get BRAND NEW, EMPTY HCL and to install backup file on it and have full functionality of network like it was original?

Thanks! :)

Well, you cannot. Backups from HCL are send to Fibaro server, where it is bound to HCL S/N or MAC or whatever. BTW, how did you saved backup from HCL to USB drive?

Try to ask fibaro support or their service, if support gives you contact on fibaro service, for upload backup to HCL into new HCL and then send it to you. Or they maybe do it remotely through SSH, if you forward port 22 for them.

How to reconfigure network in that case as I guess all devices are already addressed in "broken" network?

As Jakub suggested either contact fibaro support or start building everything from scratch. As I understood, at the moment besides bugs in the software biggest problem of Fibaro system is that it is not possible just to buy new box and easily transfer everything from old to new one because USB stick is limited by hardware serial or something to that box only and cannot be sued on another one without hacking it.

I hope only that our backups made to USB stick originally attached to the box are not really send to Fibaro server, because if they are then original idea of making system safe is deeply broken and all this complications with being unable to transfer backups to new box are then pointless except to make users lives miserable.

Oh, I'm not thrilled at all with that beacuse building it up again will take a lot of effort and time for me. 180m2 and more or less 60 devices in network is a lot of job to be done.

I think everything is sent to Fibaro server....
