HC2 all lights on panel and does not respond

Question

Posted (edited)
Hi,

My HC2 is stuck when I switch it on and I can't see it in the homefinder. The following happens when I switch power on:

All led's light up simultaneously and blink, then go off after a few seconds.

If I press the power button on the back, they light up again and all flash rapidly.

If I press the recovery button (+) on the back, then the lights start lighting up from right to left.

After all lights light up, they all stay light and I still can't see the hc2 in the homefinder.

At this point, the on/off button on the back does not respond.

The only option is to pull the power, but then the process is repeated.

Holding in the recovery (+) when switching power on only makes all lights blink rapidly.

How do I get the system working again? Tried recovery, but it does not respond. Is it bricked?

It was long time ago that the software industry used hardware locks. These have thankfully disappeared and replaced of codes because of all the problems.
But Fibaro are still using them. (Yes Recovery stick can be considered a hardware lock)

Imagine if I had to send my car to France to get the steering lock replacement!
Think again, and do it right!

i was involved in hardware locks development some yrs ago, and from my understanding we did it to stop people from "bad licensing habit", and not to prevent them from using things. Encryptions keys stored in the hardware are very common in todays hardware, they are not hardware lock but necessary way to store data in secure place.

it is like your smartphone or hard drive, when the data is encrypted and need to be moved to other hardware, only (if possible) the manufacturer or other professional data recovery service can help you. There is nothing wrong with that.

I have issues with my HC2 - same,

reported unit to support, support asked me to send shots of console etc... obvious system errors, instability restarts etc... unable to load modules.

My unit (sent without power supply) - was at service - service decided:

complaint dept: we will repair for free

support: out of warranty - Go away, luckily decided:

instability errors because power issues, i happily forgot about this and my familiy started to live happy life without "home skynet" - suddenly support decided to send back unit and free power supply ( yaaaay! ) and.. guest what..

same reboots, same messages, same everything - wife said <CENSORED><CENSORED><CENSORED><CENSORED>, unit, you can stuck in your <CENSORED> and never <CENSORED> because <CENSORED> and go and <CENSORED> and all of them.

i tried restore:

first time - rebooted during first step, and all lights turned on,

power cycle

scond time - finished

and Error 404.

I give up

basically - few thousand euro installation worth nothing. i thought that giving away mikasa i'll swithch to mature solution...

have good night all

Tinman, I am aware that some equipment may sometimes need to be repaired at a service station. But I annoys me that I have to send my equipment to Poland to replace a defective Recovery stick.

Why is this Recovery stick protected with a hardwarecode that can not be resolved remotely? Why can not the information be stored on a standard replaceable USB memory?

If someone steals my HC2 so it can not cause me any physical harm to my house even with an unencrypted backup.

If Fibaro considers Recovery Stick is necessary for safety reasons, they should also take full responsibility for the maintenance of it and give a lifetime warranty and free support.
One should be aware that many of us HC2-owners will have problems with the recovery stick in the future. Are we then willing to pay more than 100 € to have it replaced?

Loopez, my wife has better patience (so far) :-)
