Hi!

So Apple is getting closer and closer to release a full blown Home automation solution. Not necessary the products but the platform for it.

What are your thoughts?, as I, sitting here with loads of z-wave devices that are not home kit compliant? There sure is Homebridge but its only a "bridge".

More and more companies, major companies, are releasing more and more products that are Homekit certified.

What will happen? Fibaro states nothing.

Will they soon release a HC3 with Homekit support and start a new Device range including the Homekit chip?

And we, the "old guys" will be stuck with the old fashioned solution and support?

I am the prototypical Apple fanboy usually, but I remain unconvinced regarding HomeKit being a solution for the things I am implementing in Z-wave. I see a HC3 coming, providing a bridge to HomeKit. That is my speculation. But, really I don't care. Home automation is, for me, not voice control. I would not use Dragon Dictate to write an email, so I don't need Siri to turn on a lamp. Home automation is in the intelligence and interoperation between smart devices, and underlying logic.

Hi! I think it's quite brilliant, and I believe Apple will be quite successful with this. Even without building a new home automation controller themselves, they simply create a platform which interfaces with all the home automation devices from others. But putting the control in their own hands in the users existing device. No need to buy anything new, just upgrade to the latest iOS and if you have AppleTV, even better. Then you can use this to control your scenes without requiring your iPad or iPhone.

Not too many devices integrated yet at the moment, so this is still a limitation, but if you look at the logo's in the Apple keynote, then there should be many to come. Including Fibaro I noticed. I'm curious to see how HomeKit develops, but I think Apple is holding a good set of cards.

The only thing I find Homekit useful for is direct integration into iOS for easily changing devices/scenes. My wife struggles with 3rd party apps and iOS can support it directly and intuitively, which is much easier for her.

To be honest, I have Homekit HUE hub and don't use Siri at all, but the integration into Homekit direct is nice. In the ideal world we would not need the apps as the automation is perfect, but my implementation is a bit far from that yet - but getting closer by the day 8-)

HomeKit or not for me it really does't matter. I'am also kind of Apple fan, at least I was until they start to do things that probably only they love. Apple is not anymore what it used to be, so I'm not expecting anything from them any more, especially with home automation. I just replaced my old Philips HUE bridge with new one that supports HomeKit, and guess what, it refuses to connect with Siri only because I leave in small country of Croatia. Like we don't speak other languages except Croatian. So to be honest f..k Apple and all big corporations with their fascist and nationalist * (sorry for language but I'm really pissed off) (BTW where is ANGRY emoticon gone????).

I invested quite a bit of money on Fibaro system and as long as my wife na I are happy how it works others can lick their... whatever. ;) Oh, and we don't have to struggle with iOS or Android because most of the things I programmed until now are automated and if we need to activate or deactivate something (rear occasions) we have switches, buttons, swipes all around at best places to do that. It is not yet completely finished, but I'm getting there.

P:S. I have Apple TV last generation and it sucks! Besides it refuses me to turn on Siri (again only because I leave in small country on the edge of the world) I have to reset it every time we want to watch something from my shared library even after latest update, or at least disconnect network cable, otherwise ti is incapable to find it.
