os.time showing wrong time in 4.100

Question

Posted

Hi all

I have created a simple sunset/sunrise scene and have noticed that sunset activates an hour early. Upon further investigation it appears that os.time shows different hour to the one displayed under weather information,i.e. it's 1 hour off. Is it a bug i 4.100 or am I missing something?

Hi mrtn,

I was just working with this one and have the same issue.

For me, I'm living in the Netherlands the time is 3 hours off.

This is odd. I'm  in Sweden (which is the same time zone as The Netherlands) and I have everything working perfectly.

I attach a screen dump of a quick test I just did. (The one minute difference is just due to me having to take a screen shot of the output too)

I fail to see how the NTP service could provide one time information to the weather service and another to the Lua part of the system. And I am not aware of any way to set time manually that would affect the systems differently. So, this is just odd. (Check the NTP settings and server availability and "reboot the system"?)

What's the time zone of your PC? If I remember well, time display in a browser, for some websites, depends on your PC time zone. Which makes sense when you travel with your laptop.

Regarding "time" on your system (aka the clock) ... it's a complex issue. Time is in fact "UTC time" plus "time zone offset" plus "daylight saving time". Not talking about browser issues here, just any operating system.

If you run the example posted there, you might be able to tell which setting is right and which is wrong.
