device updates status after "poll this device"

Question

Posted

Hi All,

I have a horstmann combination of a thermostat and a boiler switch connected to the CV.   Problem is this; when I switch on the thermostat, it switches the boiler switch nicely on.  But the status in the app(s) both web as IOS don't indicate the boiler switch is switched on.

After pushing the button "poll this device" in the web environment, the status is put right  (on or off, what I set on the thermostat).

The pulling interval is every 10 second.

Node ID:99

Parameters template:44

Z-Wave protocol type:6

Z-Wave protocol ver.:2.78

Polling tijdsinterval:.Het apparaat wordt gepolled  op periodieke Intervallen 10 Seconden

Anyone got an idea to get the polling really working? Can I do it with some LUA code? A script running every minute just polling the device. obviously it doesn't poll by itself.

Help ie appreciated!

    Hi,

Can you not set it to a higher poll time, 10 seconds is really very fast. What do you use for your overall polling (/fibaro/en/configuration/zwave.html)?

I would suggest to start with 125.

Thanks! The default value is 300. Will change it to 125 but I think it's just not updating.

    Let's try this weekend!

Hi barend121, I seems to have the same problem with my Horstmann. I didn't noticed it earlier. Maybe it has something to do with version 4.100.

Anyone else having the same problem with this device?

Thanks tinman, but it does not seems to work to poll the device with that command.

poll command should actually work, it does exactly what the UI poll now button is doing.

can you pls double check it?

I think we can. But still I'm curious if someone else has the same issue as we have. I'm still hoping someone else will reply to this topic.

Well on my HC2, it isn't working unfortunately. I know, because when I execute the command you said, the actuator stays "on", when I press the poll button in the settings of the actuator, it switches to "off".

@barend121: Is it working on your HC2?

Edit: Well, Maybe I didn't polled the master device, maybe that was my problem. Device polling now works when I set the device on periodic poll interval. See my later post.

going to test this tomorrow. keep you posted!

Did you test it already @barend121?

It turns out, when I set polling to "Device will be polled at periodic intervals" on 60, it is now working.

I'm not sure if my soft reconfigure something has to do with it, or if I was to impatient.

My HC2 does not poll devices that are set to poll at the global interval, it only polls devices when I configure them to "be polled at periodic intervals". Do others have problems with the HC2 default polling not working? Is this a known bug?

I tested the LUA poll command and it worked for any device I tried it with. As mentioned in the script above, be sure to poll the parent device ID.

What models of devices do you have? Can you post a screen shot showing settings and advanced settings of the devices?

I need the same screen shots from you. Also, did the polling work in previous software versions?

What devices exactly? Note that devices differ and we cannot treat all devices the same way.

Thanks for the reply. The devices I have noticed the most issues with are Leviton light switches, both on/off and dimmers. They poll just fine from a scene or if their poll setting is "at periodic intervals" but do not poll at all using the "global polling interval" setting.  Is this to be expected for some devices? I assumed if a device polled "at periodic intervals" it should poll properly using the "global polling interval"?

Just tried today, and after changing the thermostat, the relais switched on but not in the status. used the script twice and no status update.

after pressing the POLL device button the device indication was right. screenshot added.

See below the screenshot. The actuator is a Horstmann/Secure HRT4 ASR-ZW.

I know for sure in previous firmware versions it did update the status as soon as I set the temperature to a higher value than the temperature in the room (I've associated them together). But I'm not sure on what value the Polling Time Interval was set ( If I remember correctly it was on 0 seconds, but I never set it myself to 0 seconds).

Now I have set the polling time interval at 60 seconds, it does update the status of the device every minute.

I did a soft reconfigure (mentioned it in a few posts back). Have you tried that? If you didn't do that, maybe that is the step which made it work again.

@T.Konopka I'm still curious if I can set the polling interval on lower than 60 seconds. As stated in my previous post I thought it was set on 0 on previous HC2 firmware versions (maybe because of the association with the SRT321 thermostat?) Or isn't this kind of behavior what I have now, not correct?

Tried this on the boiler switch and did not work. Did you reconfig the boiler switch or the thermostat?
