Question

Hi,

I'm having some trouble setting up a Dimmer 2 to controlling halogen lights.

I know these are not dimmable and setting up the configuration for On/OFF doesn't work, the lights keep up blinking. They don't turn on or off, with the Fibaro interface or with the switch, they just blink like the residual charge of a dimmable light.

Do I have to use the bypass even though I'm just setting them up to On and Off?

Thanks!

2 or 3 wire setup. Halogen lights should be less problematic.

Hello,

Is there a difference in blinking when you set the Dimmer on and off? Does it intensify? Or is it always the same?

Can you tell me what country you are located in?

    I'm in Mexico.

And no, there is no difference if the light is on or off, it just blinks with the same frequency and intensity.

    Hello,

Can you take a look at this thread? Is it similar?

You say "halogen" and "not dimmable" but all halogen lights are dimmable... So I suppose you mean compact fluorescent or LED? 2-wire setup? Watts per dimmer?

Ah, wait, I assumed plain "halogen" but you probably mean a low voltage (12 V) halogen... connected to an iron core transformer or to an electronic transformer?

    Hi!

I found the answer to this issue.

In México, it is very uncommon to use three wire installation in lighting, and the dimmer 2 just flickers with some loads and doesn't control them, it is not residual energy to use a bypass. It is resolved installing a neutral wire.

    Thanks all of you!
