xxm before sunset doesn't work for me

Question

Posted

I have the scene below which I wanted to use to turn my front drive lights on 60 mins before sunset. But it doesn't seem to work.

It is dark outside well before the lights come on....can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

The system knows my location and the time in settings is right.

Did you check if HC location is properly setup and that sunset is giving proper time for your location?

It looks like it has my location OK and I even checked the coordinates it is giving.

Where can I find the sunset times with the software?

@moreno5 since you posted under HC2 I suppose that you have one. In that case you can make new LUA scene and copy this code to it:

Please login or register to see this code.

When you run it you will get sunrise and sunset time on your HC2 for today in debug window as on picture bellow:

If you have HC Lite then I have no clue how to test except to make scene that will send push notification at sunrise and sunset time exactly.

Check again setting for your location. I recommend to check time zone and check location with google maps and put coordinates of your location in the settings as I have:

From your avatar you are located in London but your HC must be located somewhere too much to south because when you go from north pole to equator days are longer so sunset is later.

    I have Europe/London under Time Zone and then the following coordinates;

    Latitude: 51.44

    Longtitude: 0.245046615600586

    City: Dartford

Hmmm, that looks ok, except try to remove some decimals from longitude. Enter  0.2450466 instead and see if it will be better. If that does not help then I have no clue why HC is getting wrong sunrise and sunset time.

That hasn't worked, I think I will have to escalate this one to Fibaro.

    thanks for your help mate.

Ok, Fibaro support sorted my problem.

We upgraded to the latest firmware (4.1) and then changed NTP servers to  server 1.uk.pool.ntp.org for UK users.

The change doesn't happen straight away, so it was all rectified by the next morning.
