Inaccurate Weather Readings from YR

Question

Posted

In HC 4.101 beta, it is now possible to have weather information from two different sources - YR and Yahoo. In the screenshots below, both the Yahoo and YR weather information are laid against Fibaro door sensor with temperature probe and a plant sensor. It just goes to show how inaccurate YR weather information is.

Thankfully, Fibaro has been listening to our previous feedbacks and worked in the past weeks or months to develop a new method of having weather information, known as - 'Weather Plugins'. For now, there may be only two weather plug-ins - Yahoo and YR, and a third 'WeatherProvider' which allows configuration of sensors we have to act as source of weather information.

I sincerely do hope that more weather plugins will be make available. For example, where I am located, the most accurate weather information has been that from 'The Weather Channel', more accurate than Yahoo. Before that becomes available, at least I am glad to have the option of 'Yahoo' instead of 'YR'. ;)

Agreed.

When @fibaro actually take on board what is said all good things happen :)

I also find the weather options inaccurate, Yahoo is better, but still not location specific, instead I utilise my netatmo for local weather and control.

Hope your Basil grows well ! ( I've just planted mine out here in Australia :) )

Cheers,

al.

and I don't have Yahoo as an option in my weather pull down box ?

Scrub that found the yahoo plugin and weather provider ..

For those that are wondering as I was, you install them from plugins / weather :)

Thanks mate. It grows better during this time of the year. Looking forward to a good harvest till the season change again.

I will check out Netatmo again. I vividly recall that there were posts/reviews which indicated the Netatmo Outdoor piece does not actually measure/sense the real environment but instead pull info from weather providers as well. Need a revisit to see if it make sense to invest in it and what's the return value. With less than 1 degree C variant of Yahoo Weather plugin from actual, it does not really affect much. Maybe for someone in other parts of the world, a 0.5 degree C variant means a great deal between freezing or in warmth of the house.
