A bit of fun for a dull january...

Did you name you HC2/HCL or do you or family members refer to it by some name besides 'that wretched box' or worse :-)

Be nice :-)

Our kids call ours Donimo...

Yeah, but its stupid (i have HC2 on static IP that ends with 66 so i call it that). I even nammed it that on  home.Fibaro.

Reading what you have posted over last few months do i correctly assume that you refer to your Fibaro box as "wretched domino"? (because A) that would be interesting name and B) it sounds like comic book villain  name - so even more interesting)

Oh yeah i know that feeling, it only takes one bloody patch that fails and messes up something that you've so delicatly built and things can get *heated* between the unit and the user.

We give our HC2 name Angelina since it has nice female voice reading Croatian text with Italian accent :) My family get used to her so much that they don't allow me to change her voice. If, God forbid, I screw something up so Angelina became silent, they immediately notice that and then start mocking me :D

Anyway, I don't want to think what will happen if this box suddenly die on us. Probably everyone will shed tears and I will have to organize funeral ceremony :D:D:D

    Just kidding :P

For me it's mainly the weather and intwrnal temps as part of our wake up routine and also any house system changes while we were out...

Usually just "The Fibaro" sounds nice. but some times it's called a lot of words that I can't use here... Specially by my wife when I mess up again :)

Like a few days ago. I embarked on a mission to make a VD and scene to keep track of how many George Clooney cups (Nespresso) we have left. My idea was to surprise my wife and send a push of the cups left to her phone.

I had to reinstall the fibaro app on her phone as it stopped receiving pushes.

For some odd reason the Fibaro started to send push with the cup count EVERY SECOND after a day. When I got home from work that day she started yelling at me even before I got out of the car :) .the scene and

Wil post the VD + scene soon

Same as @AutoFrank Angelina wake us up with greeting and weather info, when we go to sleep with status of alarm clock, coffee machine and in general status of our hose, changes of the settings, etc. I'm now rewriting code for TTS notifications so that I can easily add more without needing to code every time.

We also use it to tell us which alarm zones are open when we start away mode and it greets us with the house temp and other info when we arrive back

We call ours Lili, but i think that is because we came from having Vera, and it was almost like she was a real person living with us. we always referred to her as if she was a member of the household.

I also want in on this, I already own a HC2 with several devices. Is there any other hardware needed to make her speak?

And can you give us a "hello world" exampe or redirect us to a thread discussing this?

My implementation is based on Sonos players to provide the voice (angelina, domino, etc)

There are a number of ways to interface to sonos.

    - The plugin that is provided with the HC2

    - Krikroff Sonos Remote VD -

Please login or register to see this link.

    - A solution I introduced using a node http api -

Please login or register to see this link.

    - A solution by @jompa68 Musiac VD also can TTS

The voice comes from leveraging a TTS (Text to Speech) facility that take a string of words you generate through a scene or a VD and 'speaks it out through one of more of your players

    Hi @sirKitKat,

I use @Krikroff Sonos remote VD, VoiceRSS service and some scenes to give Angelina voice. Still working on final solution that will be easily expanded.
