Unable to add Fibaro Door / Window Sensor.

Question

Posted (edited)

Good morning All,

I have been having issues adding Fibaro Door / Window Sensors to my HC2. In my previous apartment, I have configured 10 sensors (it was never easy task for me and would always involve several tries before senor would be detected by HC2). I have moved apartments few months ago and have removed all devices from HC2 to start from scratch. However, I have been unable to add any of my Door / Window sensors but 1 (1 out of 10). No matter what I do, HC2 would just not detect it. I have reset all sensors (as per Fibaro instructions), tried removing the device (not being detected by Remove Device) and cannot add it either. The blue light blinks during adding procedure, but HC2 does not pick it up.

Has anyone had similar issues? Would anyone know what else I can try? I cannot believe 9 sensors broke at the same time.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Michael.

I have the same problem, version 4.110 I can't add any device

I do have 1 device which i can add, but only to see it disconnect after some time. I can readd that one but it will create a new device that goes dead in some time again too. I do however have another one that i use which works just fine. In the one i try to add it also has the temperature sensor, perhaps that is an issue?

    Thanks Guys,

I think I am on the latest FW (4.110). I wonder if this is related to that version.

As I said, I have always had problems adding Fibaro Door / Window sensors. It never worked first time for me. It always took several tries for the sensor to be discovered.

I was wondering if others had similar issues with Fibaro Door / Window sensors or is it just me.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael.

Same problem. In my opinion this is the worst door/win sensor you can buy. Always losing connection, wrong battery level reports, problems (re)adding. Button on the bottom!!! of the sensor, another one inside which blocks the cover from closing tight - awful design, really disappointed.

the button on the bottom is clearly for alarm anti-tampering like all other alarm door sensors or keypads........

I can't try this recommendation yet, im outside my home,  this is the answer from support team.

    Hello,

please remember to add the device close to the controller (few meters away) before mounting them further away form the controller.

Please make a habit to DELETE the device before starting inclusion. This will reset the internal memory of the device. So whenever you have a new or old device that you need to add, go ahead and delete first.

Once you empty the EEPROM (internal memory), it is very easy to add the device in the next step.

In terms of the internal memory, exclusion = reset – both clears the memory of the device.

Please delete and then include devices. If the problem persists, please let me know.

I did that with some Danfoss thermostat for radiators and it worked.

Since the radiator is not possible to move close to the HCL and since you need to include it while it is fit on the radiator valve, I just included and deleted until the inclusion worked completely receiving all data (be sure that HC does not receive just part of its template data).

After the inclusion and first disconnections occurred they worked stably, I think it is related to the mesh that needs some time before creating a stable network.

Very important to completely delete the sensor from the system and reset it to brand new (here it depends by the sensor brand on how to do it) before trying to insert it again.

    Hi Flowy,

Thank you for your reply. However, I have already tries that. As stated in my initial post, I tried removing the device first using Remove Device in HC2. When running Remove Device (30 seconds discovery mode) and performing the usual procedure on sensor (three quick click on the tamper button). However, HC2 does not detect anything. Exactly the same goes for adding the device. I have also reset the sensors using Fibaro procedure to reset the sensor. The sensor resets (two blinks) and should be factory reset. Again, HC2 does not detect anything when trying to add the device using Add Device wizard. I literally touch HC2 aerial with the sensor when doing it.

    Nothing works for me.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael.

Is it certain that it is specifically a D/W sensor problem? I mean: are you able to exclude or include other devices? If you have a device that you are not using right now, one that is not included, you can try this: set HC2 de exclude devices. Do the button dance on the device. The HC should exit the exclusion mode before it times out. This will not alter your network. Unfortunately, if this works, it still does not prove that you can *include* devices. Then I'd repeat this with a D/W sensor, but please press the tamper switch while you click the inner button at about 3 clicks/second for several seconds. Keep clicking...

    Hi petergebruers,

Thank you for your input. I managed to remove and add Fibaro motion sensors and one door sensor. Also, I have added and configured Fibaro RGBW controller. Haven't tried smoke detector (need battery replacement). I will try Fibaro smoke alarm next (as you suggest). I have not used it since I've moved.

Does it matter which little magnet I use with door sensor? I am certain I mixed them up.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael.

Thanks for reporting back. Any magnet will do. One thing. Changing batteries and opening-closing might reset the sensor. You are probably familiar with the procedure.

i have the same problem, not only with D/W, already have a ticket with support team.

    Me too.

I tried to re-add a door sensor and it is not working.

It is working, but just partly. After a couple of minutes I get a half included device (icon is this package).

    But that's it.

I am waiting for another device to check if inclusion at all has a problem or just this/a door sensor.

I  am using 4.110 too (I did include this device without any problems with 4.100).

    Hi Alex,

Now that you mention this, I think I included the first few devices (after we moved) and then upgraded HC2 to the latest version. It is quite possible the issues started since upgrading to 4.110.

I wonder if there is issue with this build.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael.

    Solved!

    >Changed from HCL to HC2 (4.110), problems with door/window sensors, no reset possible<

I had the same problem and I looked for a soloution on different websites, no answer from the support...

... trying several times to reset the window sensor in all different ways (there are 3 different ways in the www)..

at least I made a downgrade of the FW with a backup file, lost all rooms and scenes but after that, the incusion was done and it worked.

    Maybe this is helpful, cheers

Thank you, because of you I finally found this thread again ;)

I tested it with other modules and they worked fine. Only door sensor made some problems, but after a couple of times trying to include it it finally worked (and I had this problem with three out of three door sensors).

Also I could not include a powered module by using the app. Actually it worked but the app was spinning endless until it crashed (in the meantime the module got included properly already).

Just a Quick update on this thread, I had the very same problems including the different Fibaro Window Sensors on my HC2, BUT.... I solved it by clicking repeatedly the button (with the case closed and the battery inserted of course), not only 3 but 3 times and while the light is blinking, pressing 3 times more. With that, I was able to include all 5 sensors. Hope this helps someone else ;-)
