Meaning of "value" for a dimmer

Question

Posted

Hello!

Trying to figure out the values for my dimmers.

If I set the "value" to 1 the dimmer turns the light on, I was just surprised by the value 1. Is this the value giving me the same light as parameter 1 (Minimum brightness level)?

And to turn on full light, should I then set "value" to 100? Is this the same light as parameter 2 (Maximum brightness level)?

Best regards, Mikael

Your light might have been detected as non-dimable, this occurs when you are either using wrong controll method or your light is indeed not (by itselve) dimmable. Altho the value 1 should be automatically moved to value 100.

can i get bit more details tho? what are you trying to dimm (specifically what type of load is it - rezistive, rezistive-capacitative, rezistive-inductive ).

Allso can you run calibration again?

First make sure that all inputs are in closed state (if you have connected buttons/switches etc.)

than go to fibaro web ui, settings for device (spanner icon), advanced and look for Parameter 13. Depending on weather or not you have Bypass set value to 1(no bypass), 2 (with bypass). This applies exclusively to Fibaro dimmer 2 FGD-212 (if you have older version this parameter might differ).

and just icnase i would love to see how you've connected it (wiring diagram).

Brightness level of a dimmer, aka "multilevel" in Z-Wave speak, varies from 0 to 99. 0= off, 1=lowest possible brightness, 99=highest possible brightness.

The FGD-212 has 2 parameters that influence the minimum and maximum brightness. It's explained in the manual and I honestly can't explain it any better. For your convenience, I'll post the relevant part as a picture:
