Question

Posted

I powered my HC2 down today, with the power button. Later, I powered it back on, but it would not start. The lights would 'pile up' but the HC2 would not boot. Connecting a VGA monitor shows that it's stuck at the BIOS screen.

When I remove the HC2 USB recovery key, the system boots up fine. Everything works.

When I try to boot with the HC2 USB recovery key in the HC2, it fails to boot. Complete failure.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do now? I mean, I have a working HC2, but can't make backups or restore backups now. I'd like to get it fixed. If anyone has any experience with these matters, please let me know what the procedure is when this sort of problem occurs.

This is very common problem with the HC2.

Mine has it too and is on it's on his way to Poland.

Only Fibaro can fix your recovery stick because they write some security keys on it based on your HC2.

I've been told they cant do that remotely.

Big design fault of Fibaro of course if you ask me.

There is a way to fix the Recovery stick by yourself, but that method is NOT supported by Fibaro and I am not allowed to tell you how, on this forum.

Thank you for your information. This sounds like a very bad and inexcusable design flaw. Such a shame.

I will await what Fibaro has to say. If I have to send it back, I am going to have to decline, and will definitely make a complaint about this to them. I cannot miss this device here for the time it would take. If everything works aside from the backups, then I'll just do backups the old fashioned way.

    Thank you all.
