"Trying to call global require" when enabling name space

pos

Question

Hi

I am going to build a syslog sender service. But I get stuck very early :) I try to enable a name space with the following in a virtual device:

local socket = require("socket")

But the debug output tell me all the time that "Attempt call global require (a nil value)"

What do I miss? I am not yet that used to lua...

Many thanks in advance

/Peo

    It seems to work with a little different socket handling. And it only works in a virtual device, and not in a scene...

    Lets say that you create a simple test virtual device named "syslog" and add the following basic code to its "main" loop:

    --snip--
    function sendSyslog(msg)
        socket = Net.FUdpSocket();
        socket:write('msg', "10.10.10.10", 514);
    end
    --snip--

    If you call this directly from the main loop in the virtual device and send a syslog message with:
    sendSyslog (aaaa)
    it works perfect.

    But how do I call the "sendSyslog" function in this virtual device from a scene? I want to be able to send syslog from all scenes... Alternatives?

    Thanks

    /Peo
