Limiting Instances of a Scene

Question

Posted

I don't seem to be able to limit the multiple instances of a scene.

Scenes starting with this:

"local startSource = fibaro:getSourceTrigger();
if
  (fibaro:countScenes() > 1 or (fibaro:countScenes(1899) < 1 and fibaro:countScenes(1900) < 1))
then
  fibaro:abort();
else..."

...still get notifications that there are too many instances if the max number of instances is set to "3". Why is that ?

Does it take too long to process the second line and are other instances started in the mean time ?

And is the "Limit number of Instances to.." setting meant to intentionally limit the number of instances (but why do we get notifications then) ?) or does it mean that the scene is badly written ?

If the answer on this last question is "yes". What is a better method to limit the number of instances of a scene ?

Hi @wienog,

to eliminate multiple instances in LUA this code at the very beginning of the scene before other executable code should do the trick:

Please login or register to see this code.

but still scenes that are triggered by sensors or even better with smart plugs measuring power can have for very short time running more than one instance so I recommend setting Max running instances to 4 for those scenes. This works for me very nice for some time already without any problems and without annoying warnings in notification center.

Of course this is solution for LUA scenes and for block scenes there is solution somewhere here on forum if I remember correctly.
