Question

Hi,

when you include a device it creates a master and 1 or more slave devices

What are people doing with the master, are they just hiding it or some thing else ?

I'm looking to clean up my system and has a lot of these

Thanks

Hi @AutoFrank,

At first I just leave them hidden and under Unassigned, but then I decide that maybe it is better to sort them out just for some tidiness. So, my device masters are still hidden but I give them name of main slave device with 'master' or 'm' in the name and I put them in same room as slaves. That looks much better than a bunch of unnamed masters under unassigned room.

    @Sankotronic - when the support people worked on my system they left them hidden in an un-assigned 'room'... I'm okay with that as they number of devices, virtual devices and scenes I have is making it difficult enough to find stuff but I do like the suggestion to name the masters .. another one for my list

    It is really up to you, but since master devices are hidden, they are not making me any trouble even I have many scenes and devices placed among the rooms.

    Pretty close to what I do. I name the master accordingly to the device/unit e.g. for the Aeotec multi sensor 6 I name the master "Aeotec ZW-100". Assign them to the room they are installed in and let them remain hidden.

    Same as you @AutoFrank;

    No idea what to do with them. So I just leave them in the un-assinged room and forget about them.

    But it would be nice to receive any information about them just like the new 'remotes'

    About the new 'remotes' I got a short answer from Fibaro that it's about scene activation but I haven't found a tutorial of it anywhere..... :(

    I'd like to shamelessly self promote this topic, I gave explanation and hints regarding the new remotes:
