Server connection lost in WLAN environment

Question

Posted

I use often my android app to access the functionality of the HC2. In my home are 3 different WLAN access points to have

a good coverage of wlan access in each room. The access points support seamless roaming so I can move through my home

with my cell phone changing fluently the access point and have net connection without any package loss. Fine. But when the

access point being connected to with my cell phone changes and my fibaro app is active, the connection to the server gets lost.

Even a restart of the app does not help.

I disconnect then the phone from my WLAN and use the normal internet access of my provider (UMTS). The connection to the HC2

works again. Then I connect back to my WLAN to the access point which didn't work before and the connection also works with the HC2 again.

What could be the reason for this? Other applications work without this problem.

Hello,

Can you clarify what you mean by access points? You mean that you have a wireless network using 3 routers? Or do you use signal extenders/repeaters?

Hi @JCM,

So when you mobile change Wi-Fi access point, then you lost connection to Fibaro through app, if it is open, right? Not in background? Settings of all access point is same?

I'm doing same in a office, if i go to a werehouse and i connect automaticly to a unify AP (2,4 GHz) instead of still being connected to a Pakedge AP (5 GHz). I did not see any connection loosing to an HC.

I use 3 Unifi access points (see

) and a RaspberryPi as the WiFi controller. All three are connected via a switch to

    my router.

    Similar Problems for me

Not sure what this is. Maybe the app should try some automatical reconnect instead of disconnecting everything.

This problem seems to be resolved from my side. I installed the latest firmware to my wifi controller and access points and I have the fibaro app installed which i recently updated, too. Now it works.
