Combine sensor and switch as lock?

Question

Posted (edited)

I am new to Fibaro, I've been a Vera user for the last couple of years and during a special offer I bit the bullet and bought a Fibaro Home Centre 2 a couple of days ago.

I shod have done more homework before purchasing.  There seems to be a lot that the Vera could do via plugins that just doesn't exist on the Fibaro.  Either that or I'm not seeing how the features work with Fibaro.

My main issue to start with is the Vera had a plugin that combined a sensor and a relay as a door lock.  I use this on my garage doors and gates.  If the sensor says it's open, the lock shows as open pretty simple really I suppose but I can't work out how to do it via Fibaro.

Can anybody suggest how I could achieve the same  function on fibaro please?

Put simply, I have an open / close sensor and a relay that trips for a second or so which are combined together as a lock.  If the sensor who's open, the lock will show as open,  If I send an open command, nothing will happen.  If however I send a lock command, it trips the relay for a second or so to trigger the door / gate to close.  Once closed, the sensor notifies the lock icon that it is closed.  I hope that makes sense.

Is this possible on Fibaro please?

    Hi,

Thanks for moving the thread, didn't think it was specifically newbie related which is why Didn't post my question here in the first place.

I'll have a look through the KB, Are you saying what I want is actually possible?  I had a look through a lot of stuff available for Fibaro and couldn't find anything that related to what I want in anyway.

Just spent a fair while going through the KB as suggested, can't find anything that sounds like it's what I need.  I thought I may have had something when I found under the Relay a function that said ASSIGN BISTABLE KEY STATUS TO THE DEVICE STATUS but that's not actually an option on my fibaro relay anyway so I assume thats out of date for the latest version of the 2x Relays.

I'll go post in a section atet will hopefully help me find a way of creating the garage door lock from a relay and sensor as I did with Vera.

    Thanks anyway!

So you have 2 x fibaro relay 2"s that you are using to open and close a door, then you are using their  last set actions as indication if the door is open or closed, is that correct?

if so create a virtual device with two buttons and a label, search on forum "introduction to virtual devices" on how to do this.

It should have most of what you need

    Hi,

Not quite, it's a single switch that when pressed it opens or closes the door based on current status.  I'll look more in to Virtual devices and see fi I can work something more out.

Either way no easy panel for this you need to build a virtual device with some coding. That introduction  link is the place to start.
