Is it possible to tell if switch or app or scene triggered device?

Question

Hi all,

Recently the system has become possessed again - it is entirely possible it is down to over-sensitive Fibaro motion sensors or it could be a faulty dimmer2/relay module or a scene code that has gone wrong but essentially I'm finding one room that has a dimmer 2 module mysteriously turn on several times throughout the night and another relay switch turning that light on randomly.

Looking at the event log, the motion + dimmer 2 seems quite obviously - it seems to be detecting motion - quite clever given this is a locked room and yet it happens throughout the night but the relay does not detect any motion - and even if it did, the scene installed only allows the light to turn on once it's "night".

What the event panel can't seem to tell you is whether a light turned on by an app (ie: did someone in the house do it?  Did Alexa do it because of something that was said?), a scene (maybe I've not used the correct variables), or a faulty module in which case I would have expected some sort of manual switch on/off image or text to say it was done because of either someone doing it, or a short in the module.

or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hi @aj84,

I have one Fibaro motion sensor that is faulty. It was triggering scene every time when it wakes up. I tried everything possible to make it right. Excluded and included several times with reseting it, changed battery, soft reconfigured, hard reconfigured, moved to another place. Nothing helped. It looked at first like this is random problem until I checked event log where it was clear as a day that it is triggering every 66 minutes (default setting for waking up of 4000 sec).

How I solved this problem? Simple, excluded it and give it to my kids to play marbles and replaced it with Aeon Labs Multisensor 6 that also have humidity measurement. Finally no more ghosts turning lights on during night :-P

There is a huge issue with your reply - I have to have kids to then hand the fibaro sensors to them to play with and that is a horrible thought although given I had been given 5 years from getting married to get used to the fact I have no choice in the matter....maybe it might be time :- )

So on the whole you've had no issues with the Aeon sensors?  I've had them in my basket for a while now watching them for price drops as I would have 6 to replace which is not going to be cheap even if I get half of the expense back by selling the fibaro sensors however they're getting more and more unreliable that it's probably costing me the same in just electricity.

Never really thought much about them initially until I started to use your scenes and now I've become reliant on it/them :- )
