Script for the HeatIt (Multireg) thermostat

Question

Posted

Hi all!

I have a problem and I wonder if someone LUA savvy could help. I have an old bathroom in my house which has no tube for a floor sensor. I have talked with Multireg and suggested a new feature (mode) for their thermostat but I'm not sure if they even understood the problem (which really isn't that hard to understand). So the problem is: Currently I use the HeatIt thermostat with a external room sensor to keep the right temperature in the room. In wintertime this works perfectly ok. BUT, from late spring to early autumn the problem is that the bathroom gets heated by the sun during the day which causes the thermostat to switch off the floor heating completely and the floor gets cold even though the room is warm. What I suggested to Multireg was to add a feature (mode), specifically for people who can't install a floor sensor, and with so many people buying smart home solutions I thought it would be of great help to many. And that is the ability to combine the A2 mode (external room sensor or internal room sensor if the thermostat is in the room) and P mode (power rating in 10 % increments): I want 24 (for instance) degrees in the room, but the power rating should not be less than 10, 20 or 30 % for example. That way the floor wouldn't get cold even if the room air is heated above your set temperature. The HeatIt has a sensor mode for pretty much every senario except this one. Writing this it does sound complicated to do this with LUA and perhaps it needs to be a plugin or something if Multireg aren't going to do it themselves, but since I didn't get much of a response from Multireg I thought I'd ask here. If this kind of thing can't be done I'll try and get back to the manufacturer.

Excited to hear your take on this people! Or maybe someone has a different solution to this problem? Or a different device that has this functionality?

Regards

Ole
