and she works very well with Fibaro

What I have found to make her work every time is:

  • remember she knows nothing about rooms.
  • rename any devices with complex names-- you can spot these as they will confuse her
  • remove any devices that you do not want to control--my wife turned the heating on with the outside temperature close to 30 Celsius. OK my fault as I am the man and I should have thought of that.
  • rename devices that  still confuse her (bless!).

and if she is disobedient remember she is not human.

My wife wants to change her name to Alfred. I think she has always wanted a butler rather than a husband.

She doesn't work very well here. Every time I ask her to do something she gives the "sorry xyz is not responding" after a long delay and the action is still completed. Each time I ask her to turn a light off etc it takes at least 5-8 seconds and I get the error. It's really annoying

Possibly you should change her name to Sheiila?

Sorry bad joke.

Try making sure all of the things that you want to control from alexa can not be confused. Make all of the names very different.

She actually does everything that I ask of her. If I ask her to turn on the media light she will do it but only after a very long delay and then giving the error message

Generally less than 3 seconds and switches and confirms reliably here. It had a slight wobble a couple of weeks back but otherwise stable

I would think the Alexa stuff will potentially have busy times and who knows if the Fibaro servers even have full capacity for this yet.

I will post some times in a new thread and if you and others add yours it might give Fibaro an idea why you and I guess others have slow service. I might even find I do at some times of day.

Thanks @robmac

I think the response time is acceptable but the lack of support for lua scenes is disappointing

Did you use block scenes to control your Lua scenes and vd buttons ?

Looks like a support call. See if @Fibaro can trace what is failing on the confirmation. You can see the OK comes a fraction after android tablet processes the event. The fan has a motor driver that takes a while to initialise so latency to fan noise is not Fibaro/Alexa. You can hear the click of the heavy relay on the coffee machine, update on app and OK all happen very close together.

Hi @fat,

I have spent a lot of time, up to 3 months a time on the Gold Coast ( Surfers Paradise and Mermaid Waters) and I have to say that every time I was more than disappointed with the internet speed.  I am wondering whether you might have the same problem.  My daughter and family live an hour out of Sydney and their internet speed is ridiculously slow too

I have very fast internet and a business quality Wi-Fi network.  I have noticed that every 3-4 weeks, I experience Alexa telling me it cannot find or cannot execute my command.  The moment I reboot my Wi-Fi network the problem goes away.  I think it is all a time-out issue but I am not an expert.  I now reboot my entire network every 2 weeks or so

@lennypenny my internet and network shouldn't be the issue here. I am currently running an Asus AC router and have a 100/40 Fibre connection

thw only thing I can think of is that my router may be blocking some port 80 requests which could be a reason why the error message comes up but not why it takes too long to execute the command

One more general observation about my 3 Echo Dot devices.  Every so often I have to pull out their cable and let them restart.  The one in the Kitchen is worse than the others.  It more often does not find the device, or does not understand the command.  After a reboot the device resumes NORMAL operation

I have tried to power cycle all of them but this issue still occurs to all 3 Dots and the full sized Echo I have
