Smoke sensor still showing low battery.

Question

Posted

Hello,

I have changed my battery in my smoke sensor and done a soft reconfigure. Though its still beeping and telling me the battery is low? Any idea how to resolve this? Am I missing some simple way to reset the battery status?

Thanks.

Wow, so no-one has changed the battery in the smoke sensor yet??

Why is there nothing in the manual stating how to reset the battery status? Do Fibaro even know how to work there own devices, or was they just hoping everyone would be able to guess. Maybe they are just trolling, laughing because we are all being kept awake all night with the loud beeping of our smoke sensors...

When i changed battery then it got back to full. But if siren goes loud then it will have low battery for few minutes.

Also if it beeps, then what is status of the LED? Does LED blink if it siren beeps? If no, then you have got hardware issue with smoke sensor.

perhaps pushing the including button 3 times does the trick?

Thanks for the replies, this think is doing my nut in. It wont even let me remove the device because it says waiting for wakeup. Though I change the wakeup interval to 1, save and refresh but it does not update.

    Its a FGSS-001

    @jakub.jezek

There is no led flashing, its the bleep you get when the battery is low, as it still thinks the battery is though even though I have changed it for a new one.

if I press the button on the smoke sensor 3 times, it says transfer ok on my home center panel but still does not update the battery.

I managed to remove the device and re-add it. Though it still says low battery. I have also tried another brand new battery, though still the same results....

OK, so I managed to get the battery level to reset, I have no idea though, I refreshed the page again and the battery was once again full.... Fibaro don't like to make things easy eh..

It could be a beep indicating a network range or connection error too. I'm not at home, but I can check my notes this evening, for a better advice. I own both sensors and I don't have this problem. Searching for "FGSS-001" and "beep" brings up a few topics but I don't think a real solution turns up in the first few topics. There are a one or two parameters that are relevant (see manual.fibaro.com). The beeping in case of range problems is annoying but doesn't influence its operation as a smoke detector.

It was the battery low issue causing it to beep. Once I had managed to get it to 'reset' the battery icon turned back to green and the beeping has now stopped :).

    Hello gents,

I use HC2 with the newest software release 4.503 beta and every smoke sensor that needed replacement of battery stays low after replacement.

So I end up with many low battery smoke sensors with no indication at all (always low even with fresh batteries)

How can I perform a reset?

    Thanks

    Jacques

Hi, this seems quit normal as I read in different forums. Normaly you should wait a minute, till you put in the new battery. Then it should

measure and send actual battery level. Had this problem also and it worked for me. Put out the new battery, wait a minute and push the red

plastic sometimes, put back the battery........

Thanks for your advice, waiting for 1 minute before replacing the battery works!

    Hi folks,

    the manual clearly reads:

"2) Remove the flat battery from the device. Then press and hold the B-button for 3 seconds."

Pressing & holding the B-button for 3 sec while the old battery is removed solves the challenge.

Sure, but  I assume it was there from the beginning.......
