Heating Panel and Manual Override

Question

Posted

Hi All,

I've just recently installed a remotec 2 wire thermostat to run my heatpump heater.  Everything seems to be working fine, turns on/off etc and the heating panel updates the settings for the device at the times ive set.

The question I have though is with manual override.  During the day I have it set to 17c but sometimes my wife or I are at home and want to override the temp to higher when we are at home.  Now from what I can see the only place to do this is in the heating panel (with a number of clicks) from a webbrowser.  How do I give manual control to my wife via her phone?  What I have found is if I change the temp on the device within seconds it goes back to 17c because that's what the schedule is in the heating panel?

Basically the non-zwave controller that was there, when you manually change the temp on the device (plus or minus) it set the temp for around 2 hours and then went back to schedule - would love to be able to match this functionality without expecting my wife to log into a PC/Device and web browse to the interfaces.

Mobbie.

Don't know how good you are with lua, but it would be fairly easy to make a vd that would show op in the app on her phone that does what you want. You could just make a button that sets the manual override for x amount of time.

thanks @activ yep I found actually a vd here that does the job.  I was actually just hoping there was something already built in, because wouldn't' that make sense to allow users to do the manual override from their phone (or was I expecting too much :))

The feature would make a whole lot of sense, but I think there is a long list of requested features and from what I have seen progress is slow. I don't think Fibaro has a very big development department.

An even bigger issue with the panels (heating, humidity) is that they are bases on on/off switches while in reality you don't want on/off. In the case of the heating panel that means the heater is turned on and then thermostat knobs will have to sort the rest out.

This is not efficient or customary in Europe at all, making the whole heating panel pretty much useless. (Should be modulating and using the opentherm standard)
