Variables only accepts numeric as (manual) inputs?

Question

Do manually created/added "Variables" only accept numeric as inputs?

Is there any particular reason why alphanumeric inputs are not allowed?

This is another example of Fibaro's state of the art programming model because variables are stored and retrieved as ... strings.

Chaicka,

If you scroll down in your variables panel you will find "pre defined variables" (translated from my Dutch version.)

There you can define whatever you want, in my case alarm on or off and day or night.

see screenshot.
