How to set a variable easily via mobile app (via Home center Lite)

Question

Posted

Goodafternoon,

maybe a question you can easily answer. I can't find the answer

I want to set a variable via the Mobile App interface easily (home / away).  via a homecenter Lite

* I know how to set the variable via the webinterface.

* I see you can do it with LUA (howerver not working on HCL)

* A scene?

* A virtual device (LUA needed)?

To do this:

Please login or register to see this link.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction...

Best regards,

my suggestion is not to set it directly the variables from a virtual device but instead:

    - VD starts a scene that sets the variable

at the same time the same scene could set the label of the variable so that from the app you can immediately see that it worked.

You can also see later, by reading the same label, what status the variable has.

I use it to set on/off part of the heating areas in the house when I leave home (it seems similar to what you are looking for)

in the image you can see buttons on/off and the label with the current status

Thank you both for your response. Got it working through scenes so I could set set the label in the virtual device.

I guess it's not possible to display the value of the global variable in a virtual device?

@kunoch: Compliments for your cookbook! The best way to document for your self and for others (although it's a lot of work).

@roelnic: no, this is not possible, or I do not know how. the only way if you have predefined values, like I did for the mower VD. This is the only way I am aware of.

    not possible unfortunately,

you can set the VD label text with a predefined value from a scene, but for your need it is enough to set it on/off or whatever other text you prefer.

I had another need in the past where VD text from global variables would have helped a lot

is it a question or an exclamation?

or double question is stronger than one exclamation, difficult language

@Flowy hey, can you help me out ? I am trying to do exactly what you did, but I don't know how to trigger a scene with a Virtual Device in HCL. It asks me for IP address and TCP port. Can you help me configure it? Thanks
