Amazon Echo Activation Confirmation

Question

Posted

Hi All.  I have my Echo running with my HC2, and all works ok.  However, once issuing a command, such as "Alexa turn on Kitchen Downlights", there is a delay of maybe 5 seconds, then Alexa announces "Sorry kitchen downlights is not responding" but the lights then operate fine.  This happens with all devices, with all of them actually working, but instead of OK I get the not responding quote.

Any ideas of what is happening or what I've done wrong would be appreciated.

I had the exact same issue of a delay and then the not responding error even though the actions were executed

i gave up on the Fibaro Skill and I am now running the BWS HA Bridge locally on my network and now actions happen much quicker

Using Fibaro Skill

Using HA Bridge locally

Ok thanks.  I did look at this as something I may have to do, but it is in my holiday home with no pc to run as a stand alone or VM.  I guess this is a bit of a problem

I run mine on an Intel NUC running Windows 10 but most people would run this on a Raspberry Pi

Ok thanks for your help.  Your video is exactly what is happening to ours, but as it is only a holiday home we aren't here that much, so it's not worth having a dedicated machine for it.

I love your roller door btw, really nice.

I now just use the HA Bridge for LUA scene control, it is twice fast than the fibaro skill, and you cant do LUA scenes with the Fibaro Skill

Exactly. This is caused by the fact that the Fibaro skill is controlled through the all seeing eye (aka 'the cloud'), while the HA bridge emulates a local HUE controller, with MUCH more flexibility and options.. If you can spare the few bucks on a RPI (can also be v1 or v2) and are not affraid of setting up a relatively simple system.. I'd always go for that solution! :-)

Also a reason for not using the official skill:

This forces me to enable routing from the internet to my hc2 and vice versa. I have it firewalled, to not communicate to anything outside my lan's subnet.

    Hi,

I have challenges to trigger scenes (HC2 v4.160) with HA Bridge running on RPI.

Do you need certain HA Bridge version to work with HC2 v4.160?

What kind of HA Bridge http requests do you use to trigger LUA scenes with HC2 v4.160?
