Question

Posted (edited)

Hi,

This really puzzles me: the first thing I noticed when connection my HC2 for the first time were the 4 USB ports, a microphone port and a headset port....

What do they do!?!?!

Even when searching this forum for USB1, USB2, USB3, USB4, microphone or headset gives me NO result of what these connections do.

Am I really that stupid or are they just for show? (except the one where the backup-stick is inserted)

Please login or register to see this attachment.

Well, it's just a regular x86 board. Your HC2 runs debian.

None of the ports you mention are really used for anything, except for USB4 which has the recovery stick connected.

Also, behind the mental cover between LAN and USB3/4 you will find a VGA port, which you can connect to, to see it boot/see the login prompt :-)

Until you root your HC2/hcl you cannot login though, so not much to see other than a nice prompt..

(it can be handy troubleshooting sometimes though, to read the POST messages, should your device not boot)

    Thanks MaTi,

so nothing really useful can be done with it. Odd that they even show it on the facia then (especially the speaker/microphone holes)

Ah well, let's hope they will find a way to add value to it.

(not even a wifi stick would work? :-P )

Between USB and Audio out, there is also HDMI if take of that metal part our.

I connect HDMI to my Monitor from HC2, if customer send me faulty one. I can see there, if somestart up  processes do not start up properly. VGA seems out-of-date for me (monitor without VGA).

@doezel, i think nothink, that you stick in will not work.
