Factory reset not working

Question

Posted (edited)

Ok so i've been having alot of 503 server not available issues and having to reboot alot.

So I thought i'd do a factory reset. Low and behold I can't connect to the home center 2 using the finder.

I had a read though post about holding the "+" button down for too long(which i think i've done) and the i.p. address being set to 192.168.81.1.

I have tried to connect directly to my iMac and changing the ethernet address port to 192.168.81.2 and the subnet Mask to 255.255.0.0

What else can I do?

I am in no means I.T. savvy i just follow what I find please! can someone tell me what i've done wrong and how I can restore the back-up I have saved on the home center!

    @AutoFrank

thanks for the reply. I have tried a few combinations with holding '+' button etc. I have reconnected to router and rebooted and when I switched on HC2 and waited for boot up my web page connected and everything devices and scenes were all there?

Either I didn't factory reset or I somehow got it to boot up with original boot file I don't know? But I'm gonna leave it for now until I have a few days clear to try again. I'll see if I still get the 503 server busy error.

    Recovery screen never came up.

But I definitely lost connection via LAN and on the mobile app.

    more learning needed.

    Hi @Crofty

it sounds like the IP has changed

If it's still on the same lan / subnet that an app like Fing (runs on phone) can help locate

If it is on a different subnet then it may have changed to the default which is 192.168.81.1

If you want to access this then you'll need to make sure that you PC is also on this 192.168.81.X subnet

I compiled some tips and tricks a while back -

    Some may be helpful

Hi @AutoFrank, I did come across that post and followed some of the steps, thank you.

For some reason, when I checked this morning it's now working! I can login on web page on PC and on the mobile apps.

I now have the 3rd light from the right on (internet access), which was on of the issues I originally had. Time will tell if I have the same 503 issue.

    Thanks again for your assistance!

    Richard

@Crofty, glad its sorted.. 503 can occur for a number of reasons, mainly I think driven from scenes or vd's. I never really suffered form them but I did move my HC2 for a while into a warmer location and got a few 503 then and since I moved it back I haven't had a single occurence ... no sure  if that helps of hinders
