Update HC2 to 3gb of ram

Question

Posted

Hello,

This weekend i had curiosity to see what's inside of HC2....so i take a screwdriver and open...

First thing that i saw was an empty ram slot.

I found in my pc closed 2 gb OF RAM......so i updated.

What i noticed is that the system work more fast now, is booting faster and seems to load all faster....hope is not only in my mind :)

Ram usage drop from 23-24% to 16-17%

Nice one,

Before I started my HC2 adventure I read somewhere on some forum I cant find anymore people upgrading to 4gig.

Could be a nice side project some day.

One HC2 I have T my office for R & D crashed beyond recovery and I couldn´t resist looking into the BIOS amongst other things. What suprised me was a notification about reduction of installed RAM. This notofocation was not due to any action of mine so it seem to me that fibaro add more RAM to box for setup purposes and remove it  again before final assembly....

It's likely that this is a residual from testing/validating both RAM slots as part of the manufacturing process

You´re probably right.  It just crossed my mind while I was waiting for one HC2 to update from 4.056 that this process could might be a bit more speedy with more memory. But then again the fibaro OS is rather small so why should it...

Here's the forum posts that talk about upgrading the ram. One is in Italian and the other is from the French fibaro site forum. Just put them in Google translate and select "translate website"

Heres the memory info for the HC2.

The board has two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets and supports the following features:
    â € ¢ 1.5V DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 SO-DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
    â € ¢ Unbuffered, non-ECC, Raw Card B (1Rx8) and Raw Card-F (2Rx8) SO-DIMMs only
    â € ¢ Single-sided double-sided gold modules
    â € ¢ 4 GB maximum total system memory
    â € ¢ Serial Presence Detect
    â € ¢ DDR3 800 MHz and DDR3 1066 MHz SO-DIMMs
(Higher speed SO-DIMMs supported at 1066 MHz if supported by the memory
    module.)

Put 4gb memory from my iMac 27 late 2012.

    It works!
