HC 2 stuck after restart with the wrench LED flashing

Question

Posted (edited)

After powering on the HC2, after a need to move the box in my room, the HC2 gets stuck with the wrench LED flashing.

During power up every LED is flashing and then get´s a steady light but not the last one it just keep continuous flashing.

I can not access the web console. Tried multiple restarts but with same results. The box is just 8 month old.....

In need of help

Hi @blopon

Are you saying that after a reboot all led's are on solid except the leftmost one that keep flashing ?

Are you sure the network on the new location is working ?

Hmm.. Have you tried recovery modus?

@blopon

Before trying recovery.. try this

Power on the box, leave to settle for a few minutes at which point it sounds like the led's are all lit

Then try pressing the power button ( not the recovery button) at the rear of the unit just once and wait 1-2 minutes and see if the led's settle into the expected normal pattern of 3

If yes .. then try to access the UI..

It is the leftmost led that is continuous flashing even if I let the HC2 box be for 12 hours after reboot.

I have tried to push the power button after a few minutes but nothing changes.

The network is working on the new place, just moved the box 1.5 meter and use the same cabling.

let me describe it once again: LEDs and button on the backside are connected to separate PCB, which runs it's own firmware. As soon power has been applied, they doing that LED blinking, until all get on. In that time, when HC2 have boot into Linux, the device driver is taking over the control and whatever necessary displaying on the LED (lan ok, power on, update off, and so on). That means, when Linux is not booting (bootsector broken, file system damaged, recover or os tumb drive broken, hardwrae broken) all LEDs will blink forever. With monitor connected you can see boot status, if nothing on screen try different power supply, when still nothing power it down then unplug the recovery tumb drive and power on - if something appears on screen the backup tumbdrive is broken. If still nothing mainboard is broken. At this point you will have to contact the supplier to get it replaced. If you wish the data migrated to new HC2, you will have to contact Fibaro or us.

    Hi.

I have the same problem, after moving the box 3 meters.

When I connect to a screen, I only get this picture.

I have tried recovery, and startup without Recovery disk, without other results.

I have connected a USB keyboard and tried F2, F7 and F10, but nothing happends.

Any Idea what it can be?

Which software version has your box, 4.1XX or 4.5XX ?
If you have version 4.1XX, try removing the Recovery Stick and restart the box.

If the box then starts correctly, update it immediately to the latest version 4.510.
In version 4.5XX, the recovery stick, which has caused us so much problem, is no longer used.

How is the status of the diodes? Are they all flashing or only single ones?

Have you tried to do a recovery?

Actually all are ON and the left(setting/repair) is flashing.

for the recovery mode, again at the final step of starting up is like that

I myself have had this problem many times, but then it's helpful to start the box without mounted recovery stick.
The recovery stick has had damaged sectors, which means that the box can not be booted by using the stick.
If removed, the box usually starts with the built-in ROM.
But if this does not work for you, it will be unfortunately an expensive trip to Poland for your box.

    Hi guys

I found sth. in this case of problems, fibaro released 4.520 Firmware with solved issue of ( - System hangs on starting services. ) . Did any one try that ?

Also another problem that I found , the hanging on start up maybe because of power supply fails. please change it to new one and give me your results. Both of them are your answers.

At the moment the HC2 hangs when the internet goes out. I contacted fibaro and they know about this problem. Hopefully they fix it really soon as this is a big stability issue.
