Wifi IR device as a Virtual device on HCL

Question

Posted

Hi,

was wondering if my HCL can communicate with a WIFI infrared device.

for example, there is

Please login or register to see this link.

er for example, its really cheap IR console.

but i don't want to use 2 apps....

so the Broadlink unit can learn remotes and control their appliance.

that question is, is there away that HCL can communicate with it ? (i assume that if there is it would be with the virtual device)

did anyone tried it ?

if not,

what do you use to controls TV air-con and other IR devices with fibaro ?

thanks !

    Hi,

I have best experience with Global Cache iTach Flex devices.  They are really small, so you can use it almost everywhere.

Yes, they are expensive, but you have one device, that can be used for almost everything. It is IP2Something.

Last project known to me is where Fibaro dealer (i am distributor) combined iTach Flex with Somfy RTS (rs-485). I have been told that end-customer is very happy about that.

    thank you for your input.

it seems like a really nice device, but it won't solve my issue.

if i want to control my air conditioning and TV i will need several units.....

since each aircon is in a different room....

routing IR cables across the place is not an option....

No, you don't need several of them. IF you have just Air conditioning and TV in one Room. Then connect iTach Flex with Triport. Looks like one in the link (picture) below. General use-case is control TV, Satelite/Set-top box and Air Conditioner with this little iTach Flex.

Hi, sorry for late response... I use Broadlink, not RM-Pro but his little brother RM mini 3 :).  You've got 2 ways to get it work - depend what stuff U got.

1st. IR blaster (RM mini3/Pro), android device (RM bridge app)

    - or -

2nd. IR blaster (RM mini3/Pro), linux host (I use virtual machine running on NAS, anything able to run python2 env) with BlackBeanControl (

Please login or register to see this link.

     )

I personally rewrite BlackBeanControl to work as webservice. After that, I was able to use it with HA bridge for Alexa or VD in HC...

Can you share with me your webservice to BlackBeanControl? I have been fighting with python on a cubox-i with XBIAN.

I have tried this option but my problem is on python too much errors on install and configure... I found a solution based on that but in Java and is working!
