VD button or scene to open external app/program

Hi,

 

I have been looking around the forums but haven't found anything so i thought I'd start a new thread.  Am quite new to this so forgive me if it has already been addressed.  

 

May I ask if there a way to create a button in a VD, or create a scene to open an external app on iphone/android?  I use the Sonos plugin a lot but frequently find myself having to exit the fibaro app and launch the sonos native app to change playlists, browse files etc.  Would it be possible to integrate into fibaro a button that takes me straight to the sonos app?

Hi

 

I don't believe this this is possible as you would need to leverage os.execute and this is not supported in fibaro' s lua.

 

It may be possible with tasker (android) or IFTTT using a http  call

Agree that this feature is cool, because sometimes you are required to swith to another apps. But I guess that solution to launch external app should rely on iphone/android apps themselves, not on VD that runs on HC.

I have tested on my android Imperihome apps that can be connected to HC (and have custom menu) and that have the feature to start applications by button from the same menu. As a workaround it may works for you.

this don't have anything to do with os.execute as he is asking to run something on mobile device and not on HCx.

probably no way, but what you can use is "the home remote designer" app,
