Hello!

Maybe i would like to buy the HC2 system! Right now i have another system running but with many actors and sensors from fibaro and other zwave devices.

What happens if i have in example 50 actors and sensors and the HC2 system will be broken (main board).

Do i have to inklude any of the actors and sensord overall again?

If so, what about the "IDs" of the sesnors and actors. Will they be the same after including? If not, i have to go any setting and have to adjust them.

Puhh this could be a nightmare.

Please let me know, befor i maybe move to fibaro :-)

HI @andre076

If you move you actors and sensors from one z wave controller to another you will need to exclude them form the first and include them with the second controller. This process will assign a new id to each device. There applies if you are excluding/including from either the same controller or a new one.

    UUUPPPSS...this will be a nightmare if the HC2 fails :-(

    That means also, if i have scripts / scenes for different actors, i need to re-write them all. Because after the restore of the backup, all devices will be unknown in the new system and useless.

    Hope this will be fixed one day. It´s is absolutely possible with zwave controllers. Maybe not now with the HC2, but in general, you can read and backup the controller stuff and restore it to an other system (if they are identical). I know this procedure from a zwave razberry controller.

    Hmm..in this case, i guess i´ll wait for some news about backup / restore stuff, before i´ll give it a go with fibaro.

    @andre076

    I am reasonably sure that the issue with the ID's changing if you exclude/include will apply to all controllers as you need to exclude from the zwave network which will remove the ID

    Some users have gotten around this by storing all the device ID's in a table (global variable) and this table reference in used in all scenes

    This way if a device ID changes then you just need to change it in this reference table and not every scene of vd

    If you do a restore to the same HC2 then the ID's are preserved as they are part of the backup

    There isn't any official way to restore a backup from one HC2 to a different one.
