Help with Universal Binary Sensor wiring

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi all

I am trying to wire a photoelectric switch to the universal binary sensor and failing miserably... I was wondering if anyone could help?

The photoelectric sensor has got three outputs - from the top:

1. Normal open

2. Common

3. Normal close

In terms of the sensor, I am connecting Ground to Ground on the UBS, Positive to 'P' on the UBS and 'IN2' to Normal close.

Any help would be much appreciated!

youre wiring should be ok, if all the grounds are connected together

but: measure if the ubs has 12volt and the sensor has 12v

is the sensor added to the hc2?

measure if the contacts close on the sensor, and close the ubs int1 and ground manually to see if it works.

    Hi @akatar

Yes, I have added the UBS to HC2 and it's working ok. When I wired it separately, I can see it working when I touch IN to GND.

I can see that the output from the light sensor is also at just over 12v.

However, having spent all night thinking about it, I think I know where the problem might be. If you look at the light sensor photo above, it looks as only the positive (and not the GND which I need) gets fed through the sensor to both NO and COMMON connectors. Any idea how can I get around that?

Hi, have you checked what happen if you remove jumper circuled at your picture?. If your motion sensor will be working normally then connect GND from UBS to common terminal in motion sensor and connect any IN1-2 UBS core to NO or NC contacts you suit for your ideas.
