    1. There are no sensors associated with the wall plug, it is only controlled by a Secure SRT-321 thermostat which does have a temperature sensor though. Can the SRT-321 send an alarm frame to the wall plug?

    2. Maximum load on this wall plug is less than 700 W so it should not be able to get overheated. Or do you mean high temperature warning from a sensor? In that case, my question is pretty much the same as above.

    Yes, it is possible that this SRT-321 Z-Wave device could send a frame with "high temperature alarm".

    Ok, but I haven't had any alarm notifications from the HC2?

    There are no signs of an alarm in the event panel from that time either?

    The device itself may not be completely supported by our Home Center and if you don't have any personal scenes it could get by without a proper report.

    Do you have any other devices, which could say whether there was something wrong or not?

    I have sirens, and 20 other Fibaro wall plugs, a Fibaro Flood sensor and 10 Fibaro smoke sensors but I haven't had any signs of an alarm being tripped lately. I always get an e-mail too if the thermostat or any of my fibaro sensors warn me of a potential fire or freeze which they have done many times, which have all been fake alarms by the way, so that warning can't be trusted. But this is the first time I have ever seen a wall plug display a warning like that and I have had several fake fire and freeze alarms before.

    Temperature alarm and "alarm frames" are different things. An alarm frame is a Z-wave broadcast. A temp alarm is your HC telling you a devic send a report with a high temperature and the HC sends a notification. Temperature reports can get corrupted, that is one explanation why you get them. I bet those devices are not Z-Wave plus?

    Regarding alarm frames. It is rare, maybe one time each year a device acts as if it received an alarm frame. Last time it was a dimmer 1 (it starts flashing the light for 10 minutes). Some users experience this on a few devices at the same time (so for example 10 dimmers flashing at the same time) which demonstrates the broadcast nature of the alarm frame.

    Does this help?

    Hi and thanks for your input petergebruers!

    First it helps by confirming for me that these devices are prone to give fake alarms. (This is the only time it has happened to any of my wall plugs though.) I mean, what are you supposed to do if you are on vacation and you get an alarm notification from your HC2? It means that my z-wave system can't be trusted for something like that. In my case I have a separate alarmsystem that has nothing to do with my z-wave system so I don't spend that much energy worrying about it. But I did have plans to cancel my alarmsystem subscription after I had set up my HC2 system, but fake notifications put a stop to that.

    But you mention Z-wave plus, I have an older (2-3 years I guess)  Fibaro Flood sensor that has sent several fake potential freeze notifications, but I don't know if its z-wave plus? If it is, does it matter if it has been added in security mode or not? I haven't received any notifications from it in a while though. Has there been a firmware update for it through any of the new HC2 firmware releases that might have fixed it? I realise I threw a lot of questions at you know, but I appreciate you helping me out :)

    If a Fibaro device, any Fibaro device, has a firmware >= 3.0 then it is Z-Wave Plus. If it is 2.X you cannot upgrade it to 3.X because it is different hardware. I have been told, "secure" inclusion helps (because encryption adds also strong validation) but I have never tried it...

    Edit: If you want to know if a device from another is Z-Wave Plus, have a look at the advanced properties then "Z-Wave protocol":

    Z-Wave protocol ver.:4.5

    Z-Wave Plus is >= 4.5

    Edit2: I just realized that it is probably an over-simplification... But that's OK for this topic. Z-Wave evolves all the time. Newer devices run newer hardware and firmware is 6.X. Strictly speaking, a device is "Z-Wave Plus" is a device which is listed as such on
