Device Idea: Double Switch with 4 inputs

I think adding 2 extra inputs to a double relay for a total of 4 inputs gives 2 neat features:

  • Obviously you can use the 2 extra inputs to control scenes. I have quite a few places in the house that already have 2 x 2 switches or 2 switches + a socket. I could replace the socket with a double switch and gain a neat 2 switch scene controller.
  • If you only have 2 inputs, these inputs always control the relays. This is a good thing in case something goes wrong with your controller, because you'll still be able to control the relay without a controller. But sometimes I really want to decouple the switches from the relay function. I do not know if Z-Wave kind of mandates that a relay and its corresponding switch inputs are "always connected", but I have never seen a module that allows you to decouple them. But adding two switches, which also shows up as switches on any controller, is possible. And scene control adds even more flexibility, for instance to detect double click or hold.

Would anyone want that kind of device?

I will not make any product promotion here, can say only this: its on the way to the marked Touch Panel Switch (suitable for 60mm wall box mounting) with 5 (Touch Buttons) 5 rele outputs (5A max. p/channel). Completely fri config. possibility between Touch buttons, rele outputs. Device (Buttons) can also be used as Central Scene Controller. Also on board: Lum. sensor, Hum. and Temp. sensors...
