Fibaro intergration into already installed lighting system

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi guys! hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

We have a new project coming up where there is an existing light control system currently installed (ilight system).

This system is setup with all cables and live wires to all lighting being run to a dry rise maintenance area  located on each floor of the property as seen on the below picture.

From these modules ethernet is run to each light switch (light switches run on 12v and activate relays on the main module boards as seen below.

My question is what would be the best way to install Fibaro over this system?

Plan so far is to rip out all the "ilight" control modules and fit Fibaro Modules on each of the lighting circuits located within the dryriser area. Only problem is we are now left with control over iphone, ipad etc but no control via the wall plates cause they are run with ethernet (low voltage).

So far we are looking at the vitrum zwave wall plates (Satellite Wireless ones).

Z-Wave wireless technology for communication between modules

• Vitrum Satellite does not feature an onboard output to power the lights directly. Vitrum Satellite sends ON/ OFF signals only to other Vitrum Wireless (Dimmer or ON/OFF modules) or DIN Modules (dimmer or On-Off ). These perform the command, powering the load via their own power outputs.

Any suggestions on how to go about this?

Thanks in advance!

Kyle

Use RGBW modules at each light switch and re rig lan cables for 12 or 24v dc for their power supply, that will give you 4 inputs per RGBW.

replace switch plates with momentary switches.

Fit dimmers or switches as necessary at switch board.

You will need Lua coding to match inputs to actions.

Definitely a way around it and solves my problem of wanting to use the vitrum zwave wall plates (Satellite Wireless ones) as they operate on 220v.

Great suggestion Jamie thank you. Just need to get round the LUA bit now.

I'm guessing i could also use the Universal Sensor as it also operates on low voltage?

    Yep

Ive seen a din mount plastic  fibaro module holder online which could be quite handy for this to keep things tidy at switch board end, maybe on robbsshop ? It was a while ago

This is quite a big project its total of 4 floors and so was planning on having a HC2 on each floor where maintenance room my other question what would be best way to have them all running as1 network, i know thereis various ways on doing this but had problems in the past using the alarm and having more than 1 gateway.

I dont have personal experience in that but from what ive read you  network the hcl’s or hc2’s  and have one main hc2 gateway.

I think your gateway hc2 holds all scenes and devices for the floor its on and your remote slave units have their associated devices for each floor.

You set them up individually and then add to main gateway at end.

I believe it is stright forward.

    Hi @OLIVARE,

These seem to me much cheaper:

and there is version with buttons. Also they have color coding for different modules for easier orientation in boxes full of Fibaro modules!
