Configuring Fibaro modules without a Home Center

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi there,

I'm setting Fibaro modules using a Raspberry Pi with a zwave stick as a hub.

How can I configure the Fibaro Modules, instructions only point to Home Center... is Fibaro another of those "use my hub or I suck vendor?"

Thanks,

All controllers support "parameters". The parameters are listed in the manual of the module. To understand how to set them, you have to consult the manual of your controller software. If you are talking about Z-Way, go to the "expert" interface... you'll find configuration options there. Parameters are a Z-Wave standard, vendor independent.

To be honest, some things are not available on other controlers, but I am not talking about configuration. I have to think hard to find an example. The Fib RGBW has a nice interface on HC. And the smoke sensor can show a nice graph. Both are "nice to have" but they do not limit the operation of the module. You can set RGBW values without that nice interface. And the smoke sensor works as a smoke sensor, even wihhout that graphical display.

Does this help?

I am curious: which vendor are you referring to when you say "use my hub or I suck"?

Ah thanks for that peter, I'm new to all this and your post is enough to point me in the right direction I think.

I'll explore how to set parameters in Home Assistant, guess that will be what I'm looking for here.

    Thanks!
