Lamps/dimmers automatically set themselves to on for no reason

Question

Posted

Hi!

I'm on version 4.140 on HC2 and i've seen lamps turning on all by themselves for no apparent reason. This has happened both with dimmers (FGD-211) and switches (FGS-222) and just for a couple of units. I can see in the logs that a certain switch just turn on by itself in the middle of the night. I cannot recall that i've seen this behavior prior to 4.140. HC2 turning things on by itself doesn't exactly strike me as safe. What can i do to get more information about what (if something) triggers the dimmers/switches, there must be some more logging than is showed in the eventpanel? Does anyone know if this is a known software issue by any chance..

Please advise how to proceed in figuring out what causes the issue and how to remedy it, i've used the hc2 for a couple of years without any issues..

Best regards,

Martin

Hi Martin, let’s start with saying I have no clue. But maybe we can start converging in on the cause by:

- examining the event log (is it happening every day at similar times or in the context of certain events?)

- disabling part of / all scenes

I´ve seen this several times, and it is typical because there is an active alarm in one of your devices.

You can set the modules not to respond to alarms or find the module that is causing it.

Do you have a RGBW module ?

    Hi!

    Thanks for the answers!

This issue is quite new, and there are few/no scenes that would/could interfere i'm afraid. I've pasted from the eventdpanel when this has happened (all of a sudden the dimmer just starts - nothing else is recorded during that time. So either something triggers the dimmer or there is bug somewhere in newer HC2-software that triggers this behaviour.

    Best regards,

    Martin

I am eager to know why you ask this :)

Just to answer that question; I used to have a RGBW module, but not any longer.

    Best regards,
