Fibaro won't find Sonos

Question

Posted

Hi, I've added some Sonos speakers to my home, just 2 Sonos One's, I've added the fibaro plug-in for Sonos but when I ask it to search for the Sonos devices, they do not appear. I have tried when they were on their own network, when they were on the same wifi network as the rest of my home and even with a sonos speaker wired directly to my router, to which the fibaro hc2 is connected to, but the HC" never finds the speakers. I have even reserved the sonos speakers IP addresses on the router and manually input that address in the search box in the fibaro plugin, but fibaro still doesn't find the speakers. I only have the 2 speakers, no Sonos connect.

There is some connection though, I have added the fibaro skills to Alexa on the Sonos speakers and if I ask Alexa to ask fibaro to do stuff, it generally works, but going the other way, trying to get fibaro to see the sonos, no joy.

Anybody have any suggestions as to how to get the speakers working with fibaro properly?

Thanks Morpheus, I couldn't get your VD to work, but did get another one I downloaded from somewhere to work.

I never got the plugin to find the sonos using the search, but when I did play the sonos speaker (through the sonos ap on my phone as per the instruction from fibaro support) the other virtual device and the plugin showed the speaker playing and from then I was able to control the sonos speaker through both the plugin and the other virtual device and the playlist showed up, so it does seem to be working now.

I just need to work out how to assign one of the radio station buttons to TuneIn BBC radio 2 on the sonos.

Anyone know how to do that?

    Cheers

In the Sonos app you have to select the radiostation and save it as a favourite. Then you can choose a button in the Visual Device and the radio will play. The first radio station in the Sonos app will be the first radio station in the Virtual Device.

Cheers, that's what I was hoping. I'll find out tomorrow morning if it fires up correctly.

I asked Fibaro support around the same time as I'd started this post, they finally got back to me indicating this is an issue with these latest Sonos speakers with Alexa voice assistant and that it is due to their templates and they will address it as soon as possible...

At least the virtual devices provided by others are working to some extent and that is probably more useful for me anyway since I don't know LUA and have to use block scenes.

Yeah, I have the same issue with Sonos One (with Alexa). Still does not work with plugin… Did anyone found a solution for that? Thanks
