"Device Action Failed" on Android App (most recent version)

MaTi

Question

Dear,

Since Jan 1 I have a new phone (Moto z2 Force).

After years, I was *done* with Apple and so I switched to Android.

Every now and then I get an error though at the bottom of my screen saying:

"Device action failed"

(not clickable and cannot find why it is saying this)

I have tried Googling without luck a few times, except for a Swedish forum.

Now, as I finally had some free time, I translated it. it can be found here:

Please login or register to see this link.

Long story short:

It is caused by widgets from the Fibaro app.

I have disabled the widgets and now the problem is gone.

Nonetheless, I would like to use the Widgets..

Is this issue known? Is it a bug? Is it being worked on?

If someone needs any specific logs or details, please let me know.. Happy to support/provide!

@MaTi,

"After years, I was *done* with Apple and so I switched to Android."

Soooo good to hear!!

I have more or less the same issue. Sometimes when I run a widget I get the same error

but trying it another time the widget does work. Looks more like a temporarily connection error or so.

Glad you support my decision.. :)

I can imagine that most Android users would never be able to locale the source of this error, so whatever the reason is.. I believe Fibaro should see if they can suppress the message.

It could be a connection error, albeit I also get the errors when I am on my local (and stable) wifi network.. And the widgets do always seem to be working.. But it could be something in the API for instance of course.

All in all, something for Fibaro to dive into I feel :)

    Hi guys!

Do you happen to refer to this kind of pop up?

Please login or register to see this link.

It shows up when it was impossible to update the widget app. As you have observed, it doesn't have any negative consequences.

We have noticed it some time ago and it is in the queue to be checked.

Meanwhile, you can check in your device, in your variation of Android OS (because it's differently executed by different manufacturers) do you have an option to sustain app in the background.

    Hi all,

It happened to me only while being on 4G; on my local network it never happened.

It's similar as in the 'toast' item as stated by @I.Srodka

    I'm running Android 7 .0 on a Samsung S6

And it only happens due to some timeouts and inability to load the widget.

We have experienced it but it seems that it is very OS dependent and depends a lot on your background memory management.

I'm currently getting this in Polish on Android app - each time I unlock my phone.

    Hi
On my mobile phone, the same error message, Device action failed, appears for a short while, mostly at the start of the app, but also later.

Uhhm, yes it does. The toast blocks me from seeing anything behind it. Very annoying!

With multiple widgets added I get this toast once per widget, one after the other. It adds up to minutes, every time I unlock my phone.
