lua functions on hc2

I feel a bit dassled here, as I do not really get a hang on how the HC processes function calls. Although this might be plain lua as well...

I have a script that calls 3 functions, one after another. But is seems all three functions run at the same time.

Is there a trick to have the second and thirth call wait for the first to be finished?

function1()

  debug('start f1')

  some delays

  some scripting...

  debug('a')

end

function2()

  debug('start f2')

  some scripting...

  debug('b')

end

function3()

  debug('start f3')

  some scripting...

  debug('c')

end

function1()

function2()

function3()

------------------------------

results:

1

2

3

b

c

a

while I expect:

1

a

2

b

3

c
