Help! HC2, all off scene (81 devices) takes 10 mins

Simbul22

Question

Hi guys, recently did an installation of around 80 devices in a 2 story house. We have a scene to turn everything off, it takes about 10 mins.

Is this normal? Is there anyway to check what is slowing it down??

Any help would be appreciated

regards

simon

How does the scene look like? LUA scene or graphical one? Can you post it?

My question is: how long it happened via Fibaro application. App  can turn off all lights from one button click....

turning off via app is nice and useful when having everything properly configured, but it make take longer than scene as it does check status is on/off from all "is light devices.

turning off via scene takes at least 50ms (at 40Kbits/s - the fastest HC2 can do) per directly connected device to send "turn off, get ack, get new status, send ack".

Now having routed devices this can add some extra 100-500ms (this depends on number of jumps, and protocol speed) per device. That means, in worst case scenario (let's assume HC2-> dev->dev->dev->dev-> all the other devices here) you can have 45sec to turn all on (or off) only for zwave. Now it depends on your script, if you have delays between commands, you have to add this. It depends on your setup as well (and i think here is the problem in your environment), having lot of sensor devices sending data too often or having wrong configured mesh or having other problems (like broken devices), this can take "looooong", up to "not working at all".  In typical setup (meaning mesh is in place), with everything properly setup, the time will be for sure under 7sec. Typical issues are "unnecessary delays in scene", "problems with mesh", so show us you scene first.

I'm curious, while the scene runs... Can you still control devices (using app or browser) and at what speed and rate.  That bit of information probably won't solve the issue but it might guide troubleshooting. I would say, if you (almost) cannot control any device, there are either too many messages in the Z-Wave queue or some are stuck, because of network issues.

  • Thanks for the info everyone, l have attached the scenes that run the "all off". sorry for delay, in replying.

I know there is a button on the app that does the "all off", but it only does lights, and we also had it running on a switch on the wall. The 3 Device groups are basically outside, downstairs and then upstairs.

    Any assistance would be appreciated

in your scene, in the red box enter a time in seconds. like: the first box 0, next box 3, etc..  You might increase the time in between, like 0-4-8, etc.. As for now all will be sent at ones, then some of them get lost or is been delayed
