HC2 and HCL and NON Fibaro devices - HUGE RISK

Question

Posted

I have impression that Fibaro ignores most of devices from other manufactures:

- look to the structure of this forum - non Fibaro devices are in a different sections

- look the history of updates of hc2 and hcl - past few updates are focused on fibaro heat controller - focus is on their devices

- support cannot give you any dates for fixes - they are saying the same stories that they cannot influence on programmers schedule - does support represent different company?

- support says that most of non fibaro devices are small market in the same time not having their solution - in this context danalock , keypads , strike locks solutions are not important

- I've offered even sending devices for test or template preparation- no reply at all

- most of non fibaro devices which don't have template.

In my opinion  it is too risky to buy Fibaro controller if non Fibaro items are necessary in the system because probably they will never be supported.

Forget compabilty guides - FIBARO HC2 and HCK is ONLY for Fibaro devices (limited offer) - You will be ignored by support (promises about next releases , asking on forums if is there any solution, etc).

Sad conclusion:

Fibaro is for Fibaro DOT.

Very disappointing indeed. I have just taken delivery of a Home Centre and a bunch of Aeotec sensors.

Had hoped to use the Aeotec 40A Heavy Duty relays and Home Energy Monitor

No warning of this on the [vendors website ](

There is nothing to worry about. There are extremely few units of other brands that do not work to 100%.
There may be no template for some products, but it's easy to add the required parameters yourself.
The basic function is there, but it can be a unique feature that manufacturers have added and are not supported.

@jeyb and @piersdd,

Please guy's, think clearly about what you're saying......

When you buy an iPhone do you also expect that all android app's  should work on it??

When some of them would work you would be very lucky!

The same expectations should be applied here!

Cheers

OK, that is great news.

I suppose the problem is more that newcomers, whom haven’t really looked into Z-wave that deeply, are somewhat fooled by the sheen of the Z-wave Alliance, and possibly take it for granted that full compatibility exists.

Clearly I see now that Z-wave is more of a platform such as AC power or TCP/IP, and that the specific feature sets and application compatibilities reside above.

thanks
